I have some beautiful, mature pine trees on my property, and had previously named my studio Pine Spirit. While working on this piece, I had planned to remove all the bark when I suddenly noticed the profile of the young girl and knew I had to save her. Since then, the pine wood itself has often dictated the final shape of a piece.
